A waterfall-inspired seat.
The Tahquamenon Stool is gorgeously modern and superbly highlights the beauty of bent plywood with it's waterfall design. It takes it's inspiration from Michigan's Tahquamenon Falls which are a beautiful collection of cascade waterfalls just outside of Paradise, MI. I'm a fan of this minimalist stool in the bedroom to take a seat as you slide on your slippers after a long day, next to the bed as a bedside table, around the dining table when backed chairs would be too much, in the living room where an unobtrusive extra seat is helpful, or in the entryway as a convenient perch as you put on or take off your shoes.
Each one is handmade in my Leonard, MI studio. I start out with 13 layers of sustainably-harvested wood that I glue, layer, mold, trim, sand and finish by hand, so each one is impeccably made and completely unique. The curved plywood construction creates a stronger material than solid wood, so it can have a clean, minimal aesthetic. Natural rubber feet keep it from sliding + protect your floor from scratches. The satin, non-toxic, all natural oil finish creates a rich, natural look that’s durable and is water- and stain-resistant. It’s applied by hand to ensure complete coverage, optimal thickness and a hand-rubbed lustre that holds for many years to come.
