The Gather Tray gives those everyday companions a place to land.
Rather than hiding them away, it invites them into the landscape of your home—a quiet reminder that thoughtful living isn't only about the furniture that fills a room, but also the small rituals that shape each day. Set it on an entry table, a desk, or a bedside table, and the simple curve of bent plywood transforms the ordinary act of emptying your pockets into something a little more intentional.
Each tray is handcrafted in my Leonard, Michigan studio from ten layers of sustainably sourced wood veneer. Every layer is carefully glued, molded, trimmed, sanded, and finished by hand before receiving a durable hand-rubbed oil and wax finish that highlights the warmth of the natural wood while providing water and stain resistance.
The exposed layers along the edge quietly reveal how the piece is made—a subtle celebration of the craft itself. Cork pads on the underside protect the surface beneath while keeping the tray securely in place.
Like every Ciseal object, The Gather Tray is designed to become more familiar with time, earning its place through everyday use rather than demanding attention.
