Designed for bedside tables, compact desks, narrow consoles, and other small surfaces, the Tiny Traverse Lamp brings warmth and sculptural presence without overwhelming the space around it. Its 9-inch tripod base leaves room for the books, glasses, and everyday objects that share the surface, while the white linen shade casts a soft layer of ambient light.
The base transforms a familiar tripod form through Ciseal’s distinctive bent plywood construction. Three slender curves meet at the center and unfold toward the surface, revealing the layered edges of the wood along the way. The result is expressive but restrained: a small lamp that rewards a closer look rather than demanding attention.
Each Tiny Traverse Lamp is handmade to order in my Leonard, Michigan studio. I begin with 18 layers of sustainably harvested wood veneer, carefully gluing, molding, trimming, sanding, and finishing the base by hand. A walnut, white oak, or maple outer veneer gives each version its own character, while the exposed layers reveal how the lamp was formed.
The hand-applied satin oil finish enriches the natural grain while providing a durable, water- and stain-resistant surface. Because every lamp is made individually from natural wood, variations in grain and color are part of what makes each one distinct.
A linen fabric-wrapped cord is standard. To request another color, select Other and include your preference with your order.
